To identify endpoints on its network, SWIFT also uses 12-character codes that are derived from the BIC of the institution. BIC2 represents a re-positioning of the new scheme as an international standard for the English language book trade.
For an international bank transfer, you need a SWIFT Code (BIC Code) and the IBAN Code. Sometimes when you send money, bank staff may look them up for you so you may not be aware.
