SWIFT is the abbreviation of the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication. JOHN CHARLES SMITH or ABC COMPANY LTD.
Although BIC is often referred to by bankers as a SWIFT code or SWIFT address, do note that BIC is slightly different from SWIFT§. BIC Subject Codes

BIC have released a new set of codes (BIC Version 2) for categorising titles.
