The SWIFT Bank Identification Code is an internationally-recognized system of codes for identifying banks (see ISO 9362). The 8-digit BIC Code uniquely identifies the head office of the bank. This IBAN validation form will verify that an entry is correct; note that it does not verify that the account exists. The community of financial sectors worldwide recognize the technological benefit of SWIFT system that it outperformed the TELEX system. A BIC can be combined with the details provided by the IBAN to provide automated international funds transfers.
